"Vesta Tallinn: A Hidden Garden Gem with Soulful Plates & Summertime Vibes"
Share
It’s not every day we get to spend the evening with a legendary production manager of over 40 years—and dear friend—Tom Ahlberg, who’s currently in Tallinn for the 65,000-strong AC/DC show at the Song Festival Grounds. So, we took the opportunity to treat Tom and our Hushhouse family to a culinary experience at the newly opened Vesta restaurant.
Tucked away in the up-and-coming district of Kopli, in a building once home to a shop and karaoke bar, lies this hidden gem. Vesta instantly elevates your palate with its bold flavors and thoughtful simplicity.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with huge smiles and guided to our table in a charming apple tree garden, encircled by a quaint wooden fence, soft lighting, and a vibrant, cozy atmosphere. The hum of laughter and life from fellow diners added the perfect layer to the evening’s ambience.
We kicked off the night with a beautiful glass of crémant to toast the summer air and good company, then dived into the menu—which is deliberately minimal, seasonal, and crafted with love and soul.
The compact menu gave us the perfect excuse to try almost everything and share it all. We began with the standout beef tartare, sardines with house-made focaccia, and a stracciatella salad with salted cucumber, pistachio dukkah, and more of that divine focaccia. Each dish showcased freshness and quality. While the sardines were visually intriguing, the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark—feeling more like a novelty than a must-have.
Next came a trio of winners: the whitefish ceviche, tomato burrata salad, and a creamy, soul-hugging polenta dish that seriously stole the show. These were followed by a perfectly cooked steak and fries, and a bold octopus Thai green curry—Vesta-style.
For dessert, we wrapped things up with an almond cake served in vermouth cream with strawberries and a rich chocolate mousse with cherry jam.
The wine list, expertly curated by sommelier Laura Puju, was a dream. Our standout favorite? A smooth Syrah that beautifully complemented each course throughout the evening.
Overall, Vesta delivered a solid 10/10. From the impeccable food and warm service to the relaxed garden setting and fair pricing for such high-quality produce, this spot is an absolute must-visit in Tallinn.
This place has it going on.
